When I was at the Royal Horticultural Society’s gardening event last week, my eyes were drawn to the rainbow colours of the Wacky Practicals stall. It turned out that the goods on display were far more than bright, however: they were genius.
Designed for homes with limited storage space, the silicone products are collapsible, so you can tuck them away into the smallest nooks and crannies when you’re not using them. The seven-litre bucket pictured here flat packs to less than 50mm.
All I could think was, ‘Why has no one done this before?’
Apparently, retailers have had the same reaction: Wacky Practicals’ director Kay Glennie told me that Marks & Spencer has recently ordered a batch and will be trialling them in-store this year.
The entrepreneur is also launching a collapsible kettle – yes, really – this week, which will be ideal for camping trips.
It was refreshing to see originality, functionality and design combined to such great effect.
The Pack-Away Bucket costs £19.95 and is available from WackyPracticals.com.
