How to decorate with sea colours

The deep blue and green colours of the sea are an excellent source of inspiration for home decorating; these jewel sea tones stir the imagination and bring the breezy laid back feeling of relaxing on the beach into our homes.

Here we will show you how to create a subtle maritime look whilst retaining a classy and sleek finish.

Think about how to use the natural textures of the beach, such as shells and smooth rocks, to inspire the colours and patterns in your kitchen. Shiny blue and green mosaic tiles give a beautiful watery effect, and can be used as a feature strip on walls or to fill inside a niche.

Modern appliances come in a range of colours, so you could try a green oven from the Newworld colours collection.

Continue these colours through to your accessories, a classy blue teapot is perfect for a mermaids abode and the blue triangles on the handprinted tea towel below are reminiscent of fish scales.

A fisherman’s lamp can gives a lovely nod to the nautical trend, but be careful not to overdo it on the seashells and fish paraphernalia.

To balance the dark navy and greens, add lots of white – think crisp white plates and bowls on display, white wooden surfaces and a freshly coat of bright white for the walls or ceiling.
